Why Being “Not for Everyone” Is Exactly the Point

Natural Family Photography in London for People Who Think They Hate Having Their Photo Taken

If you’re looking for a family photographer in London, you’ll quickly realise how many options there are. Bright, polished, themed, fast, formal, heavily styled — there’s something for everyone. And that’s exactly why it’s important for me to say this clearly:

I’m not a photographer for everyone — and I don’t want to be1

This isn’t about being exclusive or dismissive. It’s about being honest. When you’re clear about what you don’t offer, the people who are right for your work can find you more easily. And that’s when the work becomes meaningful.

I’m not for cake smashes or babies in flower pots

If you’re looking for cake smash photography, themed milestone shoots, or newborns posed in props, I’m probably not the right photographer for you.

My approach to natural family photography is simple: real connection, movement, and moments that feel like real life. I’m more interested in how your child reaches for your hand than how well they sit still. I don’t use elaborate setups or backdrops — because your family, as you are, is already enough.

I’m not for you if you need your photos the next day

I don’t rush my work. From the way I shoot to the way I edit and deliver galleries, everything is done with care.

If you need next-day turnaround or instant delivery, we may not be the best fit. What I offer instead is thoughtful, consistent editing and images that are designed to last. These aren’t photos for a quick post and forget — they’re for walls, albums, and future versions of you.

I’m not Snappy Snaps

I don’t do production-line photography. You won’t be rushed, over-directed, or told to smile on command.

As a relaxed family photographer, my job is to help you feel comfortable — especially if you’re convinced you’re awkward in photos (most people are). I work gently, giving space for things to unfold naturally. The best images happen in the in-between moments, not the perfectly posed ones.

I’m not for you if you want to tell me what I should charge

Photography isn’t priced by how many minutes I’m there or how many images you think you need. It reflects experience, preparation, editing time, and years of learning how to work with people in a way that feels calm and respectful.

If you’re looking to negotiate or compare prices based on what feels “fair,” we may not be aligned. I’m clear about my pricing because I value transparency — and I trust the people who book me to value the work too.

I’m not about perfection

This one matters.

If you’re hoping for perfectly behaved children, flawless outfits, and photos where everything looks styled and controlled, my work might feel a little too real. Children move. People relax into themselves. Life shows up.

And that’s exactly what I want to photograph.

My lifestyle family photography focuses on connection over perfection — the laughter, the closeness, the small moments you didn’t realise mattered until later.

So who am I for?

I’m for families who want natural, relaxed family photos that feel like them.

For people who think they hate having their photo taken but still want to exist in the frame.

For small businesses that want branding photography that feels human, not corporate.

For anyone who values honesty, calm, and a bit of breathing space.

Being “not for everyone” means I can be fully there for the right people

When expectations are clear, everything flows better. Sessions feel easier. Trust builds quickly. And the photographs we make together actually reflect your life — not a version of it you felt pressured to perform.

If you’ve read this and felt quietly relieved, then we’re probably a good fit1

And if not, that’s okay too.

But if you’re looking for natural family photography in London that’s calm, honest, and genuinely joyful — I might be exactly who you’re looking for.
